  • You can now rename your puppies.
  • A new ruined city sanctuary location.
  • Seven new purchasable items.
  • Brand new alien-battling game mode.

There are several smaller improvements and tweaks too ... I hope you enjoy this release build of Puppy Sanctuary!

24th Mar 2011 : Puppy Sanctuary Released
Puppy Sanctuary has been just been released!

Puppy Sanctuary Details

It's a couple of weeks late, the sanctuary section took longer than expected. Although similar in design to that found in Kitten Sanctuary, it has actually been written from scratch to allow for more interaction between puppies.

Anyway, it's beta at the moment, so I'm looking for feedback & suggestions, please check out the game's forum for more details. Also, the game is $4.99 while it's in beta ($2 saving) and all updates are free of charge (as with all the games).

I hope you enjoy it
George

28th Jan 2011 : Puppy Sanctuary Backdrops
Here are some newly finished Puppy Sanctuary background images (Click an image to see a larger version).
Hopefully these are final, although I haven't tried them in the game yet, so who knows!

28th Jan 2011 : Puppy Sanctuary Art
Well, shortly after posting the first Puppy Sanctuary screen, I released I actually didn't like the background art much!

It's been taking me a while (a good few months) to come up with a graphical style that I actually like for the game. I wanted something that looks nice and friendly but not too cartoony, and something that doesn't take ages to produce... the art for Memorabilia took me ages, and wasn't all that fun to produce (as it was 100% done using vector art, not a hugely satisfying technique).

There's been four full revisions of the game art since so far...

#1 A painted style, I was hoping to spend more time away from the computer by painting the game art on paper (pencil & water colors).

#2 The first attempt looked way to cluttered & messy when introduced to the game, so this version uses pencil drawings, colored in Photoshop. I like that the image looks less fussy and it worked better in game, but the pencil lines just aren't clean enough and my paper art isn't reliable enough to do a full game.

#3 This is getting back to how I did things in previous games liked Memorabilia. I quite like the style but it just seemed too plain, like it was missing something. Also, doing everything in lines and dots seemed too much of a step backwards

#4 The current style ... it uses dots and lines, but not nearly as many as Memorabilia, so it's nice and quick. I'm using shading for the first time to give depth and lighting to the image. So far so good

I'll post some backgrounds up later today.

Cheers,
George

26th Aug 2010 : First Puppy Sanctuary Screenshot
Here's a very early screen shot of Puppy Sanctuary

It has a similar style to Kitten Sanctuary, but all the graphics are being redone from scratch, I'm using far more detail in this game. You'll notice some temporary elements being used from Kitten Sanctuary in this screen, like the 'Kitten Power' statue. Also, the puppy is in fact a kitten ... I haven't started on the actual puppies yet!

1st Jul 2010 : Trying out a new art style
Here's a first glimpse of the new art style we're using in Puppy Sanctuary. Next to it is the original palm tree created for Kitten Sanctuary. Both trees took a similar amount of time to produce, but the detail in the new style has to be a good thing!

5th Dec 2008 : New Builds of All Games
We've just finished a large update to all our games

Each game has had it's UI updated to our current standards and we've increased the resolution of several in-game elements (especially on the first few games produced by Pi Eye Games).

All fullscreen images are now crisper and we've made several engine modifications to increase the games compatibility with older graphics cards. If you've purchased any of our games in the past please download the latest versions and let us know what you think. All our games can be installed on top of the older versions.

28th Jun 2008 : Website Update
We're proud to announce another big update to the Pi Eye site

Unfortunately you won't see any changes and it looks exactly the same ... but ... it's now driven by an all-new backend system which will make future updates to the site a breeze, leaving more time for the all important task of creating new games!
